The wonder of the day?
Book of Bender and Orszag (Advanced Mathematical Methods for Scientists and Engineers. Asymptotic methods and perturbation theory) is really wonderful for many reasons. Let me explain the type of beautiful things found there, presenting one of the easiest. About
linear differential equations, I have found a small development on the "Wronskian", a determinant which is calculated from solutions of the equation and their derivatives. This Wronskian vanishes if the solutions used to calculate are linearly independent. With Abel's formula, we can calculate the Wronskian .. even when we do not know the solutions of the equations!
I give just one example, but the wonder is all the pages! Do not hesitate a second. The book is published by Springer.
